Creating Jobs in Deep South Texas

Dear Friends,

On Tuesday, November 8, 2011, from 9:30 a.m.-3:30p.m., the Economic Resource & Career Fair 2011 will take place at the State Farm Arena in Hidalgo, Texas. Over 75 employers, 33 agencies and groups from the Rio Grande Valley will have over 2,400 available positions to offer those who are seeking employment. Registration is free.

In the past, Job Fairs have put hundreds of job seekers to work. This year, our country is faced with a long and tough battle of trying to work itself out of the deep economic trenches that were dug during the past decade. It has been, and will continue to be, a hard battle to get our nation back on track. But the important thing to remember is that we are on the right track.

One of the ways to overcome our economic situation is to create jobs. President Obama unveiled his American Jobs Act which incorporates bipartisan ideas, and does not add a dime to the deficit.  Senate Democrats have put forward the Rebuild America Jobs Act which contains many of the same essential elements at the President’s plan.

This is about creating jobs and many of them involve important and necessary infrastructure improvements.  Many Americans agree that putting construction workers back on the job to rebuild our roads, bridges, railway, airports, and energy and water infrastructure is a priority that will strengthen our nation’s economy and our middle class.

  • Clickhere for a new report from the White House highlighting the economic benefits of rebuilding our roads, bridges, railways, and airports across the nation.

The continued attempts by the other side of the aisle to set up roadblocks to prevent job creation and economic growth must end.  Americans need jobs and they want results now. This is why we must be proactive and this is why my office in conjunction with other agencies and companies have vigorously combined our efforts to put job seekers and employers together. Our communities and our businesses will benefit from a trained and skilled workforce our area provides. Deep South Texas’ workforce has a strong work ethic. They are ready, willing and able to work. We must keep on working towards our goal and support legislative measures that will create jobs and keep our economy growing strong.

Sincerely,

Ruben Hinojosa
Member of Congress
