Chamber, Parks Department Seek Vendors and Parade Entries for 29th McAllen Candlelight Posada.

MCALLEN, TX—The McAllen Chamber of Commerce and the McAllen Parks & Recreation Department are looking for vendors and parade entries for the 29th McAllen Candlelight Posada, December 2nd and 3rd, at Archer Park.  Organizations interested in participating as food vendors or who would like to enter an entry in the lighted parade can pick up applications at the McAllen Chamber of Commerce or download the application on www.mcallen.net

“The Candlelight Posada committee is very excited about this year’s event.  We hope to make this year as festive and memorable as the last,” said Eduardo De La Rosa, Candlelight Posada Chairman.  “We want to invite the community to participate as food vendors and/or in the lighted parade.  This is a great opportunity to raise funds and awareness for businesses and organizations.”

Candlelight Posada has been very successful in previous years because of the financial support from local businesses.

“Sponsorship opportunities are also available for both individuals and businesses who would like to show their support for this community event,” said De La Rosa.  “Last year, Candlelight Posada attracted over 38,000 people from around the community.  This is a great opportunity for businesses to show their support and promote their business as well,” said De La Rosa.

The event kicks off with a lighted Christmas parade on Main Street and the lighting of the Mayor’s Christmas tree on Friday night and continues throughout the evening with plenty of entertainment for the entire family.  Teen Town and Little Town are big attractions for teens and small children with plenty of games and activities.

On Saturday night, the community joins in singing along with the nativity procession of the re-enactment of Mary & Joseph seeking shelter.  Musical entertainment will follow throughout the evening for the entire family.
