RGV Residents Invited to “Law Enforcement Day” at 23rd Annual Texas Crime Stoppers Conference

McAllen, TX-- Rio Grande Valley residents will have a chance to meet law enforcement officers from federal, state and local agencies Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at the McAllen Convention Center (700 Convention Center Boulevard) during “Law Enforcement Day”, at the 23rd Annual Texas Crime Stoppers Conference.

Helicopters and other law enforcement vehicles and equipment will also be on display on “Law Enforcement Day” inside the Exhibit Hall, from 9 am to 5 pm.  Admission is free.

The annual statewide convention is being hosted by the Rio Grande Valley Crime Stoppers Coalition from October 24 through October 26.  More than 250 citizens from across Texas will attend the state conference in south Texas.  They will attend workshops for education and training, to learn how to promote crime stoppers in the community, to learn how to use social media for crime stoppers, and to become familiar with law enforcement duties and responsibilities.

 “This is a great opportunity for citizens from all over the State of Texas to come together and share ideas on fighting crime in their communities,” said McAllen Police Chief Victor Rodriguez.  “We are proud and honored to host the 23rd Annual Texas Crime Stoppers Convention and invite our local residents to attend Law Enforcement Day.”

Texas Crime Stoppers, a non-profit organization that offers education, training, and resources to law enforcement agencies and the general public, is comprised of Crime Stoppers organization from across the State of Texas, such as the Rio Grande Valley Crime Stoppers Coalition. 

The RGV Crime Stoppers Coalition consists of McAllen Crime Stoppers, Palmview Crime Stoppers, Hidalgo County Crime Stoppers, Pharr Crime Stoppers, San Juan Crime Stoppers, La Joya ISD Campus Crime Stoppers, Edinburg Crime Stoppers, McAllen ISD Campus Crime Stoppers, Peñitas Crime Stoppers, and Mission Crime Stoppers.

School Groups Welcome

Federal, State and Local law enforcement agencies will be on hand at “Law Enforcement Day” to address the public in the Exhibit Hall.  The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), U.S. Marshals Service, Homeland Security-U.S. Border Patrol, Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms (ATF), Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Department, the US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), and police departments from McAllen, Palmview, Pharr, San Juan, La Joya ISD, Edinburg, McAllen ISD, Peñitas, and Mission will be present to exhibit tools of the trade.
