Animal Control, McAllen Police To Host Rabies Clinics

The City of McAllen Animal Control and the McAllen Police Department encourage pet owners to participate in a series of rabies clinics, March 6 through April 3, 2010. The cost for a one year vaccination for licensed pets, between the ages of four months and one year old, is $7.00 dollars. For a 3 year vaccination for licensed pets over one year old the cost is $15 dollars.
The rabies vaccine is required under Texas law. The intent is to prevent human deaths due to rabies. Animal Control officers say cats and dogs could potentially contract rabies from bats, oppossums, and raccoons in our area.
Clinics will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the following locations:
Fire Station #5, N. 23rd and Dove, Saturday, March 6, 2010
